Frequently Asked Questions about the CPC Day Program

How does your Extended Day Program for eating disorders differ from a residential treatment program?  How do I know whether I need a residential level of care or if treatment in your Extended Day Program is appropriate?

The main difference between our Extended Day Program and a residential treatment program is that in our Extended Day Program, patients sleep in their own homes at night and on the weekends.  This full day program provides support and structure for up to ten hours daily Monday through Friday in addition to providing nutrition support on the weekends whenever indicated.  This paradigm allows patients to work towards recovery without dramatically disrupting their home lives. Furthermore, engaging in treatment at home allows program participants to incorporate their recovery seamlessly into their lives- developing and practicing coping skills, improving relational patterns, and facing life stressors with the support of their treatment team.  As long as a patient is medically stable we believe it is most effective to work toward recovery within the context of real life and created our Extended Day Program to this end.  The best way to determine what level of care is appropriate is to have an intake assessment with the specialized staff at CPC.
