Frequently Asked Questions about the CPC Day Program

How do you establish how much each individual should eat?

At CPC, caloric prescriptions are established after careful consideration of very detailed information provided by the patient to her Day Program nutritionist.  Calorie and nutrient needs are in large part based on the patient’s current weight, weight history and weight goals, height, age, gender, level of physical activity, body composition, and current medical and nutritional status.  Calorie and nutrient needs may be met in a variety of ways and patients work with their nutritionist in individual meetings to develop meal plans which make the completion of these needs most comfortable.  It is also important to recognize that meal plans evolve as recovery progresses and may require certain adjustments to optimize metabolic function.  Our over-arching goal is to shape dietary intake to restore one’s health, both physically and mentally, and allow the body to resume the natural rhythm of hunger, fullness, and satiety cues.
