Frequently Asked Questions about the CPC Day Program

Should I be concerned that being in treatment with other people suffering with eating disorders might actually make me worse?

The majority of patients express a significant sense of relief that they are interacting with people who deeply understand their issues, thoughts, and feelings.  It is this universal feeling and connection that allows people to explore their eating disorder and work towards recovery. Of course, there may be times that you feel triggered by something you hear or observe within the group context.  We see these moments however, as opportunities to further understand, process and work through the thoughts and feelings that emerge under these circumstances.  With the support of your treatment team, you will work on developing positive, healthy coping skills to utilize when you find yourself triggered both in the group context and in your life outside of treatment.  We actually find these difficult, triggering experiences a very useful and ultimately, beneficial and essential element of the treatment process.
