CPC Eating Disorder Treatment Programs & Services

Psychiatric Consultation and Medication Management

Patients at CPC have individual therapy sessions as well as group counseling.

Before joining the CPC community, every prospective patient undergoes a thorough psychiatric evaluation by our Medical Director, in the case of patients over the age of 18, or by our Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for patients under the age of eighteen. The psychiatrists at CPC evaluate the need for the initiation of psychotropic medications and discuss this need with all patients. If it is mutually determined to start a medication our psychiatrists thoroughly explain all of the potential risks and benefits of doing so. If a patient is currently being followed by a psychiatrist, our psychiatrist will collaborate with that provider throughout the course of treatment at CPC. Patients are seen as needed by our psychiatrists to continue to assess the use of psychotropic medications. Upon discharge from one of our programs, patients return to the care of their outpatient psychiatrist or, in the case of a medication naïve patient who starts medications while in program, there is the option to continue with one of CPC's treating psychiatrists.
